Maal Hijrah Islamic New Year and my resolution!

Written by: Averroes

Alhamdulillah, I don't get to say that word as much. Everyday we breathe, eat and sleep, but we rarely say alhamdulillah all the time. Alhamdulillah means, praise to Allah. I am so grateful and happy that I am able to still live and open my eyes into the world every single day. Now, it is the day of Maal Hijrah, the day that we all should look forward to.

Every year, we Muslims celebrate Maal Hijrah New Year as part of the Islamic calendar, based on the lunar calculation. The first day of the Islamic year begins from the migration of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings upon him from the city of Mecca to Medina. However, we should not celebrate Maal Hijrah by only knowing the history of it, but we should motion forward to improve ourselves spiritually, mentally and physically.

Personally for me, I want to become someone who is successful, a high valued man, a gentleman, a man who knows his principles, ambitions and goals to reach in life. However, I find it hard to find the sense of direction, but I know that I would get there one day. Therefore, for this Maal Hijrah, I want to develop and cultivate myself to reach my goals and dreams in life, and I pray to Allah that everyone reading this would also grasp whatever it is they intend to achieve in life as well, together!

Again, I acknowledge that it would be extremely difficult, but we should make slow and steady transitions with our lives. Changing ourselves would not happen overnight. It is time to start to change from now, we cannot postpone, but again, pick up our pace and try to do it at this very moment. Most importantly, we have to seek self-sincerity. We should not do it for the sake of seeking attention or validation from other people. In order to improve our own character and attitude, it cannot be forced.

Let's bring and spread positivity. Our monarchs, being the religious head of each their states also preach their postulation. The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharifuddin Idris Shah called on Muslims should evade from uploading messages online that would incite slander and envy.

His majesty advocated for us to dispose any negative traits and imitate the good qualities of the Prophet Muhammad. We should shun from contemptible acts of deceiving, treachery, concealing the truth and spreading rumours which are characters of a hypocrite. In the closing remark, the Sultan supplicated that the pandemic outbreak would recede and our lives would return back to normal.

The heir apparent to the throne of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah in his royal decree at the State Level event of Maal Hijrah expressed that it is not time for a political power vacuum as we are enduring the shrills of the covid-19 pandemic. It is time for us to band together and strive for a better naion.

Lastly, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong himself, father of the heir apparent as the Islamic head of the states of the Federal Territories and if the State Constitutions of Malacca, Penang, Sabah and Sarawak purports his majesty to be the Islamic head, under article 3 of the Federal Constitution, his majesty has power to manage Islamic affairs.

Within the ambit of the Head of Islam, the YDPA enunciated that all Malaysians should thrive under the theme of Maal Hijrah this 2021 that is 'Manhaj Rabbani, Ummah Berkualiti' as to synergise together in combating the covid-19 outbreak. As Malaysians, we should comply with the SOPs and heed the exaltations of the YDPA.

In a nutshell, with the pandemic shrouding us, I would like to reiterate that in our current struggle, we should all become better and constantly detect our weaknesses, learn from our mistakes and improve our inner-self, build discipline, confidence our self-esteem and step closer to our goals and ambitions in life!
