OnlyFans creators make more money than a lawyer in Malaysia?

Written by: Averroes

(1.0) Introduction

According to statistics, a gaming software website found that the top creators for OnlyFans made 270 times more than an average worker. The New York Post also contended that a study by MrQ, a UK-based website compared the income of the creators and their existing data of customary professionals.

They found out that the adult content creators made more money as compared to doctors, lawyers and teachers. The most popular OnlyFans creator is gem101 which makes RM124.6 million a year (RM10.5 million every month), while the 10th most popular, capriceG92 garners RM18.23 million annually. The 20% cut that OnlyFans reduce is also tabulated from the figures mentioned.

To compare, English doctors in the top paid industry are only given RM462,051, while lawyers even fail to reach an annual average of six digits. Lawyers in the UK would make RM381,510 annually. gem101 makes 22 times more than a doctor. More comaprisons are made to a marketing professional at RM234,802, a teacher at RM205,451 and journalist RM223,183 anually.

This may be due to the Covid-19 pandemic where people are locked and confined inside their houses. However, adult content is not the only source of income on OnlyFans as it is also a friendly-website to post content on writing, fitness and cooking by uploading images and videos, while also interacting with their fans via direct messages.

(2.0) The situation in Malaysia

    (2.1) Salaries of an average Malaysian lawyer

That is for the situation in the UK, however, what are the figures and statistics like in Malaysia? We shall find out, but warning, this is NSFW and it is for educational and research purposes only, therefore, readers discretion is advised. We shall bundle up different sources and make a rational inference as to the close salary that a Malaysian lawyer make.

According to the Economic Research Institute, a lawyer's salary is RM178,462 a year with RM86 an hour and it is estimated that there would an increase of 33% in the next 5 years to RM236,578 as of 2026. That is RM14,871 a month.

Men also make more money as compared to women at RM144,060 and RM83,649 respectively. It also depends on the level of education and work experience.

Lastly, according to glassdoor, a Malaysian lawyers on average makes RM4000 a month, the highest being RM6000 and lowest at RM2000. Lastly, that low RM2000 per month is confirmed by salaryexplorer at RM2450 with RM7950 per month is the typical wage.

(2.2) Income of a Malaysian OnlyFans creator (Siew Pui Yi)

It is quite difficult to find statistics for OnlyFans income in Malaysia, though this is what the author managed to find;

According to The Asean Post, Malaysia recently had the sugar baby outcry which is similar to OnlyFans that solicits sexual and adult company. However, on average SeekingArrangement released the statistics that a sugar baby in Malaysia profits RM2500 a month, whom are from university students trying to make a living during the pandemic.

However, should Malaysia be proud that we actually have a top creator on OnlyFans. She comes by the name Siew Pui Yi. She is an emerging star on OnlyFans by posting adult content as she has large amount of followers on social media. She is famous for her bikini and nude photo shoots. She has 14.4 million followers on Instagram. Even Neelofa is only at 8.5 million followers on IG.

According to BiographyDaily, the only figure we have of her personal assets or networth is between USD 1-3 million. In Malaysian Ringgit, that is RM12.7 million

A Malaysian may access her content on OnlyFans from RM211 a month to RM572 for 3 months! Though it is not disclosed as how much she earns a month or annually, but actually, it is not easy as it seems. While people say that uploading nudes online is easy money and a creator can pique the interest of consumers, it takes dedication, passion and hardwork. This applies to all forms of careers and professions.

Because of that, she is the highest-earning influencers of Asia and won the International Asia Wang Hong Award in Shanghai, China as Asia's top influencer. Let's say and imagine 14.4 million followers on IG paid RM211 for her every month. She could earn RM2.9 billion month. Half of her followers at 7.2 million paying, that would be RM1.52 billion a month!

Apart from that, not only she makes money on OnlyFans, but through YouTube which gets her videos monetised.

Her motivational quote is that;

"My job is to give the daily dose of happiness to my fans. On social media, many people have criticized and trolled my posts but it does not affect me. Everyone has their perspective and I respect it."

(3.0) Conclusion

To conclude, from the trend, a typical Malaysian lawyer makes somewhere between RM2000 to RM4000 a month and RM40,000-RM50,000 a year. However, an OnlyFans creator, that is Pui Yi is paid RM211 by each individual. So in a month, if 30 people paid for her, another analogy, that would be RM6,330 a month! Though, her charges and ratings differ with discounts as times passes. She also ventures into other businesses for her source of income.

To become a successful OnlyFans creator, you need to have a large following or fans in order to generate as much money, closer to Pui Yi. Being a lawyer in Malaysia, we should not feel inferior or challenged by the OnlyFans creators. Everyone has their own way of making money, their own roads in life and stories to write.

Though, many may disagree with making money on OnlyFans, which is ethically wrong based on a person's moral and religious convictions. Though, this is up to the readers and their interpretation and moral conscience to distinguish between right or wrong. There were incidents were some individuals deny that they only subscribed to a fitness trainer and received backlash by Malaysians, due to the conservative and traditional mentality of the society.

The point is, we should not feel discouraged. We should not be comparing our jobs with others, but use the most of our skills and talents in doing what we do and improve ourselves everyday. Focus on achieving goals each day step by step and learn from our mistakes.

If Pui Yi could do it, despite harsh criticism, why can't we?

Now go my friends, I have to delete my search history after writing and doing some research...
