A cult claims WW3 will start in Sabah, Malaysia!?

(1.0) Introduction

The police is currently on tracks to detect and search for a cult known as the "Perjalanan Mimpi Yang Terakhir" (PMYT) whereby, they believe that WW3 would ignite in the State of Sabah. The Malaysian Chief of Police, Acryl Sani Abdullah told that the Royal Malaysian Police (RMP) received reports of the said cult previously.

He added that they will undergo an investigation to summon the leader of the cult, also from the police themselves who abide by her. If allegations that the cult is committing as what they are claimed to be, then action will be taken, but the police would be doing calculated steps to ensure the validity of the allegations.

The police would be referring to the Jabatan Kemajuan Islam (JAKIM) for their opinions, as the cult is centralised mostly in Semenanjung, rather than Sabah. It was also reported that, there are 29 shelters of this cult, where they conduct their plans. It is also concerning that a number of these places are at schools, which could also harm students and children.

So far, police reports were made by an ustaz (religious cleric) and various NGOs at a number of police stations in the Klang Valley.

(2.0) Who is Sittah Annur and PMYT?

According to one portal, it was also reported that PMYT was led by a woman known as Sittah Annur, aged 38 who is the leader of around 3000 followers and moderates 22 telegram groups. These figures are increasing as we speak. Other platforms also include Facebook and Youtube where she shared other prophecies.

Apart from that, she is said to have originated from Kelantan and now resides in Shah Alam, Selangor. She utilisies social media to attract and evangelise her speeches with uncanny teachings of Islam.

Using her Nostradamus effect powers and predictive renditions, she is to lead her holy followers to find Imam Mahdi, the salvation and saviour to fight against all odds.

    (2.1) Why are people influenced?

It is more crazy that her followers consist of professionals and those who adorn in uniforms, such as police personnel and soldiers. As far as the author's knowledge is limited to, usually white-collar and high standing career individuals participate in these cults, as they are easily duped by wealth, superstitions and social progress, despite being educated and should know of these cults' credibility.

This may sound similar to an illuminati and freemason conspiracy hoax or theory, but it is true as many have contended that cults allow spiritual demons or apparitions to control their lives and award excessive riches and fortune for those who join their cause. The smarter that people become, the more they go astray. At least on a rhetorical and hypothetical sense.

    (2.2) Unintended Consequences

According to deradicalisation expert, Prof. Madya Dr. Mohd Mizan Aslam, PMYT had entered into the second phase of radicalisation. If there are no preventive measures implemented, then they may burgeon into an extremist group.

The first phase is complete, where they managed to indoctrinate 3000 followers.

The second phase is in process, which is the mass exodus of their followers, whether physically or mentally.

The third phase has not been reached, as it is where 'conscription' takes place, involving training on the use of firearms, incendiaries and other ordnances (weapons).

The fourth and last phase, is the actual 'operation' or in other words, 'total war'. The author disagrees and fully condemns actions which lead to violence and bloodshed. Malaysia must preserve her peace and stability and will not slip into the claws of war, which is happening in other parts of the world.

The Professor also opine, since their members consist of police personnel and professionals, they could potentially have the food stocks, adequate weapons and could liquidate those who are inconsistent with their views. They have the finances to sustain themselves.

(3.0) Legal Ramifications

If action were to be enforced, then the following laws may be used as a guideline for a criminal or 'against precepts of Islam' charge against them;

    i) Sedition Act 1948;

Since they are claiming that WW3 is to erupt and they would find Imam Mahdi, (chronicled to be fighting alongside Jesus against the forces of the false Messiah, 'the anti-Christ' and the beasts of Gog and Magogs), it is by implications that a war would be launched against the Malaysian government and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

This is provided under section 3(1)(a) and (b) to be read with section 4(1)(a) to (d) of the Act which then provides for the offence and punishment.

    ii) Syariah Criminal Enactments of each State

In Malaysia, each State has the autonomy to dictate the Islamic laws and their respective punishments, as long as it adheres to the Constitution and Federal Law as prescribed by Parliament. The offence is probably under section 7 of the Syariah Criminal Offences (Selangor) Enactment 1995, which relates to 'false doctrine'

    iii) SOSMA 2012;

When charged for sedition, the procedural law of SOSMA 2012 would be used to detain and apprehend suspects. SOSMA is specifically designed to detain and capture suspects of terrorism and that PMYT could be regarded as those carrying out such activities contrary to public order and safety.

Section 4 of the Act allows a police officer with special powers to arrest and detain persons, who he has reason to believe is involved in high-risked security offences.

    iv) Penal Code

The Penal Code may be used as a guide to charge the group and their leader. This is provided under section 298A, which is an offence for causing, etc... disharmony, disunity, or feelings of enmity, hatred or ill-will, or prejudicing, etc., the maintenance of harmony or unity, on the grounds of religion.

This provision is supposed to be repealed, due to the case of Mamat Daud bin Daud & Ors v Government of Malaysia [1988] 1 MLJ 119, but it still exists today, because it is only applicable in the Federal Territories as per Supreme Court decision at that time. Therefore, a person can only be liable for this offence in the Federal Territories and escape this crime in other Malaysian States.

There are also new inserted amendments related to terrorism and against the state between sections 130B to 130TA and sections 121 to 130A, respectively.

(4.0) Conclusion

To conclude, we must assist the police in clamping down on the movement of this group and properly investigate if these incidences are indeed occurring. There is a possibility that the group are defamed or falsely alleged, which would backfire against us and those who had reported or spread fake news about them.

For now, we need to spread awareness of the dangers of cult activities and assist the authorities in their investigations.
